Samsung Galaxy S25 FE vs Galaxy S25 Plus

The GPU performance difference was most significant as the S25+ outperformed the FE by about 54% in the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme. To our surprise, the Galaxy S25 FE offers better sound quality over the S25+. The S25+ is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 sheets on the front and back and features an Armor aluminum 2 frame, marketed as more rigid than the Enhanced Armor aluminum on the S25 FE. We try to look beyond the specs sheet and see how the two phones compare in the real world.

The S25+ screen is also rated to produce higher max brightness, and in our standardized testing, it reached 1,449 nits, while the S25 FE could not exceed 1,247 nits. This display also has thinner bezels, which is easily perceived as being more premium. Of course, this is not to say there are no differences between the two panels at all. The displays on these two Samsungs are pretty similar. However, the two handsets feel very similar in hand. The Galaxy S25 FE and the S25+ have roughly the same footprint, and they have an identical screen diagonal.

Even the screen seems identical to last year’s phone, namely a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED panel with 1,900 nits of peak brightness. It also says the phone is 7.4mm thin and weighs 190 grams, making it thinner and lighter than the previous device (8mm, 213 grams). The Galaxy S25 recharged from 0% to 47% in the same 30-minute charging test, despite having a smaller battery capacity.
While the Galaxy S25 FE packs in all the Galaxy AI features I’ve come to use on other Samsung phones, its weak processing performance and battery life mean that it's not as appealing as a follow-up. The difference we saw during the day from the two zoom cameras applies to the nighttime results as well, but it requires even more pixel peeping to notice it. The difference in the zoom cameras is not as clear-cut as, once again, both phones upscale their photos to 12 megapixels. As we noted earlier in the article, the S25+ is the better-equipped phone with higher-tier build materials, longer battery life, faster charging and the considerably more powerful SoC. The phone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 1900 nits (same as the S24 FE and 700 nits lower than the other S25 models).

Galaxy S25 FE

The telephoto camera on the Plus features a larger sensor with higher resolution, and the ultrawide shooter also utilizes a slightly larger sensor. In theory, the Galaxy S25 FE and the S25+ should post similar charging times, since they share the same rated 45W charging power and the same battery – 4,900 mAh. Other hardware features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an in-display optical fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The rear camera setup remains unchanged from the Galaxy S24 FE, featuring a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom (up to 30x digital).

Like Samsung’s other 2025 flagships, it supports Galaxy AI features such as Audio Eraser and Now Brief. The selfie camera, however, has been upgraded from 10MP to 12MP, bringing it on par with the other Galaxy S25 models. Samsung may have skipped one Galaxy S Fan Edition smartphone following the first two models, but the company isn’t doing that again.

Camera & Video

Galaxy S25 FE features a 12 MP front camera — a 20% higher resolution than Galaxy S24 FE — for selfies with lifelike tones and finer textures in every shot.15 Neither phone is great when it comes to telephoto zoom clips, but we prefer the less processed footage by the S25 Plus.

Hate Past Tense

For wireless connections, the receiving device must have Android™ 5.0 or later and the sending device must have Android™ 5.0 or later. Transfers can be completed without a cable through a wireless connection. 18Performance may vary depending on game optimization, app usage and device settings.

The only change is to the Galaxy S25 FE's front facing camera, which is now a 12MP selfie shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. On the camera side rolla dolla of things, the Galaxy S25 FE appears to have the same triple camera setup as before — which is a shame because I was hoping for an upgrade of some kind. I noticed this downgrade the moment I took the newer phone out from my pocket while it was sunny outside. It looks good for most things, like the occasional YouTube clip when I’m bored, but the screen doesn’t look as bright as before.
